On December 19, 1675, a Narragansett encampment of over a thousand civilians was attacked by colonial militias from Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, alongside Pequot allies, killing hundreds.

On October 12, representatives from the Episcopal Province I Indigenous Peoples’ Justice Network, ecumenical partners, and Native partners will gather at the church near the site of the Great Swamp for a Day of Remembrance and Reckoning guided by Native neighbors. In consultation with leadership from the Narragansett tribe no ceremony of any kind will be performed at the site, but we will be permitted to walk on the site and experience it.

Please note: Tickets are limited and can be reserved based on your home diocese/canonical residency. If no tickets remain for your diocese, please contact Emily Hill at emilyhill@hds.harvard.edu to be placed on the waiting list.
